Pupils from Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy and staff, turned out on 24th January in extreme weather conditions to plant some beautiful standard trees along one of the park's avenues. A family also came along to plant a tree in memory of loved ones.

Pupils from Handsworth Wood Girls Academy returned to the park in blustery conditions to plant Daffodils and Tulips to accompany the trees planted earlier in the year. BTFL were pleased to welcome pupils from Nishkam Primary School for their first of what we hope will be many plantings in local parks.

Birmingham Trees for Life (BTFL), the local tree-planting organisation for Birmingham, planted 10 trees in Handsworth Park on 4th February 2015 to create a new Nelson Mandela Memorial Plantation.

Among the many fine trees in Handsworth Park there now stands a young Giant Redwood. It was planted on Thursday 14th March as part of a community tree planting, involving local children from Grove School, community organisations and local councillors.
