The Boathouse by the lake

The rebuilt boathouse is now home to a vibrant Cafe run by Andrea and Tony. It was reviewed in the Birmingham Mail.

The New Boathouse was part of the major regeneration project to revive the Grade II listed Victorian park. Conceived as a low shelter, connecting the park and lake, the new building accommodates a visitor centre, affording an opportunity to pause and gather. The building combines traditional materials with careful detailing to create a building that reads at different scales, on from a distance the bold horizontal emphasis of the zinc roof connecting the park and lake offering shelter, up close the visitor is encouraged to pause under the veranda with the more intimate brick corbel detailing beneath.
